  • WHAT IS A LASH LIFT?
The lash lift procedure has revolutionised old, inadequate perming techniques. Using silicone pads instead of perm rods, this new technique can lift, straighten or curl, and lengthen your own natural lashes to create a brighter, fuller, wide eyed look. No need for extensions and the associated aftercare, this will last you 6-8 weeks and can be combined with a tint to leave the mascara behind.
  • HOW OFTEN SHOULD I GET A FACIAL TREATMENT AND WHY?
Here at Pokea Beauty Fortitude Valley, we recommend that you come in every 4 weeks for optimal results. Our skin memberships are designed to help you with this schedule.
  • WHAT TYPES OF SKINCARE TREATMENTS OR PROCEDURES DO YOU OFFER?
All of our treatments directly address common skin care concerns of all skin types depending on each client’s skin care goals and needs. Our personalized facials and high-quality skincare combined with our innovative technology will help keep your skin healthy and glowing. Each treatment includes a skin analysis, deep cleanse combined with different exfoliations such as the Dermaplane, Dermal Infusion, and Peels, mask, and SPF protection. To further enhance our treatments we apply Microcurrent, LED therapy, and Custom Mask applications aswell as facial modalities.
  • WHAT ARE EYELASH EXTENSIONS?
Eyelash extensions are synthetic lashes (vegan) or mink lashes (non-vegan) applied directly to the natural lash, close to (but not touching) the lash line with a semi-permanent bonding adhesive.
  • WHICH FACIAL IS RIGHT FOR ME?
Each facial appointment begins with a complimentary skincare consultation focusing on your current health, activity level, diet, and home care routine. Then our skin therapists will customize your facial based on your skincare goals and needs. Your skincare therapist will educate you on the importance of skincare and offer the best home care regimen to follow.
  • DO MEN GET FACIALS TOO?
Absolutely!!!!! Facials are very beneficial for men too and can help reduce skin sensitivity from shaving as well as other concerns from lack of proper home skincare routines. If you do suffer from sensitivity after shaving, it is recommended that you do not shave immediately before your facial, as this can lead to irritation.
  • DOES THE LASH LIFT PROCEDURE HURT?
No the procedure is totally painless. You will have your eyes closed for the entire treatment and although it may feel a little strange being unable to open your eyes for this time, it offers you a chance to relax during the treatment.
  • HOW ARE EYELASH EXTENSIONS APPLIED?
First, your lash technician will clean the area surrounding your eye to ensure it is free of oil. Depending on the desired look, a single extension (classic style) or a group of super-fine extensions (Russian Volume) is applied to each of your natural lashes using a low-irritant eyelash adhesive, leaving the eyelashes and eyelids to move freely. They are applied carefully, one by one, using specially designed tools and techniques.
  • HOW SOON WILL I START SEEING RESULTS FROM MY FACIAL?
Some people see results immediately, and your skin should feel different right away. The skin feels, clean, smooth, hydrated, and reflects a new level of health that’s visibly noticeable. If the skin has more advanced long-term needs, such as treatment of skin aging, acne or hyper-pigmentation caused by hormonal fluctuations or sun damage, results may not be immediately visible; however, skin health will continue to improve as you follow my advice, and use a good home-care regimen.
  • IS A LASH LIFT THE SAME AS A LASH PERM?
No the Lash lift is a new, improved procedure, overcoming the ‘over curled’ look of its predecessor . Whilst the chemical procedure is identical to a perm, the difference is in the results. By ditching the old fashioned perm rollers which curled back the lashes to the extent of the ‘dolly look’, the silicone pads used for this new procedure lifts the lash from the root in either a straight or curled, upwards fashion that produces length and a bright eyed enhanced look.
  • ARE EYELASH EXTENSIONS SUITABLE FOR ME?
Eyelash extensions are suitable for most people and come in a range of types which means we can create a look to suit your personal style and preferences. If you suffer from any of the following, we would recommend refraining from getting eyelash extensions until the issue (where applicable) is resolved: If you have a known, serious allergy to extensions or adhesives. If your lashes are naturally untidy (ie. grow in all different directions) or have an unusual degree of curliness. If you recently permed your lashes. Angled lashes allow less contact surface for your natural lash to bond with the lash extension. Not only does this make it difficult for your artist to work with, the extensions generally won’t last as long. If you have any kind of wound in the area surrounding your eyes or in the eye itself. If you have a habit of rubbing your eyes. In the past two years if you have had LASIK surgery. If you have hypersensitive skin or unexplained skin itching. If you have damaged lashes (note that in some cases we may be able to assist, contact us for a consultation)
  • WHAT ARE LONG TERM BENEFITS OF GETTING FACIALS?
Plain and simple: healthy skin! And healthy skin is better-looking skin. The products I use are designed to help keep skin at an optimal level of fitness – not just cover up with cosmetic results. In addition, when skin is at an optimal level of fitness, we can more effectively address issues that may arise from time to time, as your skin’s needs are constantly changing.
  • DO EYELASH EXTENSIONS DAMAGE YOUR NATURAL LASHES?
No – our professionally trained technicians apply eyelash extensions taking special care to ensure that they are all applied individually and correctly to maintain prime eyelash health. To ensure the health of your lashes, we highly recommend that you take the advice of the technician regarding the extension type that would be appropriate long-term for your natural lashes.
  • WHAT SKIN CONCERNS ARE FACIALS GOOD FOR?
Facials are great option for anyone that wants a clear, balanced complexion. They provide deep cleansing with the mixture of professional grade products, technology, and the knowledge of a professional esthetician who understands skin conditions and anatomy. Facials can maintain the health of skin, address and correct certain skin conditions, and improve the overall appearance and texture of your skin. Facials are available to both men and women of any age and those that need to combat specific skin issues. However, there are some conditions that can prevent the performance of some or all facial services. They include: Contagious diseases such as HIV, herpes or hepatitis, pinkeye, or ringworm Skin disorders or diseases Pregnancy (unless cleared by your physician) Skin Irritation Allergies to products and ingredients Severe, uncontrolled hypertension Limited services can be performed (sometimes with medical clearance): Electrical contraindications like pacemakers and implants Medical Conditions
  • WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TYPES OF LASH EXTENSIONS AND WHAT DO YOU USE?
We acknowledge many customers and salons prefer real mink lashes. However, as a natural fibre, it is difficult to control the quality, length and density. As such, we opt for artificial mink, also known as silk, as it gives a beautiful, natural look and feel without the challenges of real mink and holds its curl for many more weeks. To the naked eye, it would be nearly impossible to tell the difference between real and synthetic mink lash extensions.
  • WHAT IS A MICRODERMABRASION?
Microdermabrasion is a mechanical form of exfoliation. We use a diamond tip (metal attachment with an abrasive surface) and soft vacuum to gently remove and suction dead skin cells from the skin’s surface. The benefits are diminished: Sun Damage Pigmentation Open and Closed Comedones (blackheads and whiteheads) Fine Lines Wrinkles Enlarged Pores Coarsely Textured Skin
  • HOW LONG DO EYELASH EXTENSIONS LAST?
Eyelash extensions will generally last until the natural lash falls out in its natural growth cycle. Most extensions last for around four to six weeks if properly cared for. However, if you wish to keep them well maintained, it is advisable to have infills applied at around 3 weeks as by this stage some lashes will have grown out as new lashes have grown through.
  • HOW LONG DOES A LASH LIFT LAST?
A Lash Lift can last 6-8 weeks but can vary from person to person. There is no need for any maintenance appointments in between but you will need to have the process repeated every 6-8 weeks to lift the new hair growth. There are some situations that may cause the lift to drop/weaken prematurely such as swimming, use off harsh products or heat. If you find that your lift does not last the full 2 months, you can repeat the treatment after a minimum of 4 weeks of having the initial treatment, but not before.
